The simplicity of the good shepherd

³⁶ But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

The simplicity of the good shepherd is he is the good Shepherd. Life is in him. This is my son in whom I am well pleased listen to him. The good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand does not love the sheep and he does not know the sheep. Ultimately he leads the sheep astray and he betrays them. They become scattered.

When the biblical lord Jesus Christ chased out the money changers at the temple he did it to make an example and to teach a lesson. The lesson as you can’t serve God and Mammon. God is not money. God is not an idol. Don’t confuse the two. The temple of God is holy. Now he said that they will tear down his temple but he will raise it up again in three days. He laid down his life freely. He did not mean the physical building. He was talking about his body. He would be raised on the third day. And since the day of Pentecost there have been people added to the body of Christ daily. Saved people. You see communication with God is done by prayer. Not prayer in rambling on or prayer that just doesn’t see God is holy and as in one filled with the desires of the world. The prosperity gospel.  He is the teacher Christ. He said himself you cannot do anything without him. He is the headmaster and the only mediator between God and men. There is a way that appears right onto a man but in the end it is the way of death. I think the greatest, one of the most profound things in the gospel is when he gave the blind man his sight back. He was accused of being a fake. The blind man was accused of never being blind. He demonstrated that he alone can forgive sins and can do things men cannot do.  The point is if you are blind and have been led astray but insist/say you see your sin remains. Christ came to take away the sight of such ignorant people.

Now the word of God says that he was a man that spoke with authority. He was also meek and humble. He demonstrated that when he showed courtesy for the Samaritan woman at Jacobs well. But he also showed authority in his teachings and he never told people what they wanted to hear. Same thing when disciples wanted to go to a funeral he said to go preach the gospel and let the dead bury the dead. The rich young ruler walked away in sorrow for he had many great possessions. Even Judas he called a devil as he did the Pharisees that they were of their father the devil. He called them whitewashed tombs. Outwardly they appear righteous before men. But inwardly they had Dead Man’s Bones and all uncleanness. That’s profound and shocking. He drove out the money changers with a whip.   Think about it in essence Hell exists. He’s coming back as a roaring lion. The book of revelation tells us so. He showed courtesy to the Sanhedrin officials. Even some of them he said they will enter into his kingdom eventually but they won’t be first and others will enter in first. So he did show courtesy. Even when he healed the Roman Commander servant he demonstrated the generosity and love of God. But he told the Pharisees that they would not see him again until they learn to cry. He said blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

The good shepherd looks after his sheep and he picks up his cross/his rod and protects the sheep. He’s not heartless but he’s a leader but not in the might of the weapons of war. (Revenge is of the lord) The heart has to have repentance and requires change. There are many charlatans who have made the house of God into a den of thieves. And when we point such things out as in the prosperity gospel those who are proponents of it just continue like a reprobate with a mission to bring people to that mindset. They don’t see the trees for the forest and they are trying to reap this life while forsaken the next. How do we know that? Because the Messiah said that those who try to hold onto this life will lose it and those who lose it for his cause/his sake, for the sake of the gospel will preserve it it for eternity.  Mark 8:35  

 

The simplicity of the gospel is that he paid the price in full. When it comes to salvation it is only possible because he paid the price in full on/at the cross at Calvary. He alone laid down his life for the sheep. And he picked it up again as he rose from the dead. He is the good shepherd. He’s the one who shows us the way and teaches us the right way with many valuable lessons through his parables.  His father said on the day of Pentecost to listen to him and in him he is well pleased. 10:44 am today.
