Will I find faith upon the earth when I return
“The title “Ecclesiastes” comes from a Greek word indicating a person who calls an assembly, so it makes sense that the author identified himself in Ecclesiastes 1:1 by the Hebrew word qoheleth, translated as “Preacher.” Resource (R)
Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
What is the conundrum is that we are told to fear God but we were also told not to fear because God (Christ) is with us until the end of the age and that he strengthens us. He didn’t give us a spirit of fear. But if we do wrong then we are to fear God. Sin leads to eternal death.
The spirit goes back to God when a person dies is what the preacher of the book of Ecclesiasticus is saying. What!!! Absent from the body present with the lord!! What is going on??? When the body dies it goes back to dust but the spirit goes back to God. Some people are lovely dust expiring reaping the world and forfeiting their own soul. Hell is eternal.
What brought me to write this is there is a woman named Jen who is actually a Bible scholar and teacher and she gave up on the faith. She has a story and testimony of course. She has many years in the complete circumference of what certain people would like to have under their belt. So it’s not like she was some person that’s just a flake. She tried for many years as she worshipped and loved her enemies.
King Solomon was a rich man but God also gave him great wisdom. He had a personal relationship with God no doubt. Abraham if you think about it was the same thing as he became the father of many nations. So when you die in this life on the physical earth where does your spirit go? As the Bible says absent from the body present with the lord or absent from the body and present in torment. The body goes back to dust to dust and the spirit probably does go back to God. But it is Christ who gives us eternal life. He swallows up death with his finished work on the cross. Just make sure you got the right biblical Christ. Some say that the preacher in the book of ecclesiastics is King Solomon. It appears he is the author of that book.
You know modern Christians argue even debate and have disagreements over scripture. I heard a pastor say that you can bend scripture to make it say what you want it to say. That’s what the prosperity preachers do and they have many people deceived under their influence. Many proponents of the prosperity gospel are deceived. They have miss understood and misconstrued the doctrine of Faith. So we are actually told to be studied and show ourselves approved onto God. But the book of ecclesiastics tells us that too much study makes a person weary. For example the thief on the cross who Christ gave eternal life because he repented didn’t study the gospel. There is a whole study that I have done before and you can find that here. (thief on the cross) Just because a person has had knowledge (head knowledge) doesn’t mean that they’re any better than someone else.
Now the important fact is that God does not look at the stature of a man or a woman or even the vanity because the preacher said all is vanity. Truly so many are idol worshipers and this too is what God does look at. Have no idols before me. Have no other gods before me. Must love God with everything you have. God looks at the heart of a man or a woman. God does not judge as men judge. Those things men highly esteem are an abomination to the Lord. As it is written God highly esteems a contrite man or woman.
But the word of God tells us that the hand can’t say to the foot for example I don’t need you. There are many labourers in the kingdom of heaven. More needed!! But we are instructed to preach the word reproof, rebuke, with long suffering and do so with patience in season and out of season. 2 Timothy 4:2 We have to stand up for the kingdom of heaven and pick up our cross daily. If we truly love Christ as it is written in the bible we oblige because he asks us to so we strive to keep his commandments even if we are not under the law. That doesn’t mean we’re putting ourselves back under the law because we are saved by grace through faith and not by works. It’s like if you drive your car and you go through a red light and then you get a ticket it’s because you broke the law and you put other people in danger. As a police officer might give you a citation and even give you a break. Or the judge might reduce your fine. Sometimes you will be set free. Depending on the situation of course. Somebody explained it like a rubber band expanding and contracting. Not under the law but grace. But if you break the law repeatedly and claim to be a true believer Christian you are trampling the blood of Christ. We have to put the faith in the finished work the lord did on the cross at Calvary. There are times we are going to be set back. But apostle Peter said that those trials of tribulation are like gold. That’s because they are great lessons and they increase the faith.
Again as I am told & understand it King Solomon is the author of the book of ecclesiastics. And I am sure I came across this before but this is important.
So here is the closing conclusion statement that I find fascinating but truthful at the same time
“Ultimately, the great truth of Ecclesiastes lies in the acknowledgment of God’s ever-present hand on our lives. Even when injustice and uncertainty threaten to overwhelm us, we can trust Him and follow after Him (12:13–14).”
Seek first the kingdom of God and everything else will be added onto you. What will it profit you to gain the whole world and to perish. Friendship with the world is enmity to God. (James 4:4) That is because you can’t serve two masters. So many have tried but it does not work. King Solomon in his blessed wisdom understood this. He came to realize this. King Solomon realized that the trust has to be put in God alone. Not in the empty pursuit of the pleasures of this life. Not in the vanities in this life. The reason it’s not easy for example living in the modern world of particularly democracy as we know it is because we have been adapted to the modern world of comfort including technology feeding of culture and tradition. Do you know the difference between a serious Christian and what is referred to as a counterfeit Christian? One sucks in the world and the other pushes it out and away. One obeys and knows the gospel and the other tramples upon the blood of Christ if they claim to be believers. Of course we have nonbeliever atheists.
Jesus said he is the way and the life. Not just the truth. He is the life. He said to love your enemies as yourself and forgive. If you won’t forgive others your father who is in heaven will not forgive you. The preacher chose his words carefully and wisely. When it’s all said and done dust to dust and the spirit goes back to God. It’s God who redirects your spirit. You don’t control where you go when you leave planet earth. That’s why it is written to fear him who does.
We like to reminisce about our lives. We remember our youth when we were vibrant and everything was exciting. Same thing when the spring comes and we see the earth teaming with beautiful flowers and life everywhere. Life comes and goes. Weddings & funerals. But what is life in God’s eyes? See King Solomon understood even that God was/is a great provider as that things such as clothes, food and even entertainment are just temporary necessities of comforts but not to put your hopes in such as there will come a day when the music stops. You cant put your aspirations in necessities. The conclusion is to fear God. It’s not to be overworked. God shall bring every work into judgment.. Whether it be hidden or not.
In that case it’s your choice to turn from sin and to believe in the gospel.
The whole duty of man is to obey the Lord. He controls your destiny.
