CEV bible version as apposed to the KJV

So you can read my comparison here that I have done of in the a.m. this morning  of 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 between CEV & KJV

Contemporary English Version

17 Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new. 18 God has done it all! He sent Christ to make peace between himself and us, and he has given us the work of making peace between himself and others.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18

King James Version

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of

Reconciliation ?

Just a comparison of 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 between CEV & KJV 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 between CEV & KJV is shocking. It may appear innocent but it is in my view deceiving. If you compare the cev of two Corinthians 5: 17-18 there is a huge difference spiritually and biblically

The King James is accurate but the other CVE is deceptive and unclear. Being a new person is probably an offshoot of being a new creature. The word creature can specify characteristics of creativity. Not exactly the same thing in “person” verses “creature”. You probably don't forget the past completely as you are human. But your focus and your heart is new and it is the work of the Holy ghost. Otherwise known as the Holy Spirit. You have a new focus and now you recognize those things that are abominations unto the Lord. God has given you a new heart. In Jesus you have been made to see what you did not see before. Remember Jesus said he would be sitting at the right hand of the father. It's God we are reconciled with through Jesus. Also in the King James version it talks about the ministry of reconciliation. So what is reconciliation? “The restoration of friendly relations.” If you are being confused or misled that is going to distort your viewpoint. And your actions based on that will be polluted and misguided. It is written God is not the author of confusion.

Creature

A being of anomalous or uncertain aspect or nature creatures of fantasy.”

The word “creature” does not only apply to the monster that is created by Frankenstein, but also applies to humans who are created by their parents. ... Indeed, when Frankenstein applies the word “creature” to the monster, there is definitely a negative and fearful meaning on the word.”Nov. 14, 2012

The new nature as a born again Christian :

Being in Christ and belonging to Christ can seem like the same thing. But being in Christ is being of Christ and utilizing those same things he did. That means you think like him and you walk and pick up your cross like he did. He made people angry. He was loving and generous at the same time. But he didn't tell people what they wanted to hear. He told people the truth in which the world in essence mostly rejects.  So much so that it frightened his disciples and even apostles. They walked out on him. It is a cross to stand for the biblical truth in Christ.

Now let's take a look at the word ministry.

Meaning the work or vocation of a minister of religion.” To be a disciple of Christ is a great calling. Many are called and few are chosen. And there is a profound reason for that being so. Remember Jesus had nowhere to lay his head. That is the reality in real life of many who bear their cross. Ministry of reconciliation is profoundly serious especially if you're truly a born again Christian. You now are a true child of GOD and you have made a commitment to contend for the faith in which you did not do before when you were lost or deceived. Man will not live on bread and water alone but by every idle word that proceeds forth from the mouth of GOD.

More comparisons:

John 3:16

Contemporary English Version

16 God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.

John 3:16

King James Version

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life

Look at the difference of the two various scriptures comparisons from the CEV as compared to the KJV

It is written man is appointed to die once and then the judgment. It is true that believing in him takes faith but you should also know him. Which Jesus are you following? Also the comparison in “everlasting life” as compared to “eternal life” may seem innocent but questionable. Eternal means without end. Something can last a long time and then come to an end. In essence it's not a big issue but it is questionable. Again  “so much” CEV to “For God so loved” is not exactly the same. So much appears to be an overflow. It is that it is or as it is in the KJV.

Matthew 7:11

Contemporary English Version

11 As bad as you are, you still know how to give good gifts to your children. But your heavenly Father is even more ready to give good things to people who ask.

Matthew 7:11

King James Version

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Now the comparison of Matthew 7:11 is probably simplistic. There's a difference between being bad and being evil. You can swear at somebody and still be their friend. But you can do great harm to somebody as you hear about evil people every day in the news. That is very serious. So I already see the difference between the two versions.

And I realize they simplified the CEV for people who can't understand scripture or even for children but if you call it the holy scriptures and it changes the dynamics as in the balance of the meaning or the scope as in the weight of the scriptures in whatever way that is deceptive and wrong. I've seen enough but I read a tad about other people's comparison too which is shocking.

Now look for example someone else’s feed or opinion on translations..

Sometimes the entire tone of a passage will change because of a translation. For instance, where readers of the english version read that Satan gave Job boils from his head to his foot, the Eastern Bible reads, Satan gave Job cancer from his foot to his brain. Big difference. The KJV and english versions makes it seem as if Job had a bad case of tormenting boils. But the eastern text shows that Job had terminal illnesses of all kinds with many types of cancers.

There is also the famous line uttered by Jesus from the cross, "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Eastern Churches know zilch about this! Their version has Jesus triumphantly saying, "My God, my God, for this have I been spared!" Christians from the east and west would have differing ideas of what Jesus actually said. Remember now, that this isn't some small little translation floating around in some small corner of the world. It's the translation used by
Christians in the eastern tradition and Christian Arabs.”

So I understand they say that overtime words change in meaning but God does not change yesterday, today or tomorrow. The King James Bible is superior in every way. And if we were to have the Hebrew or original language spoken we might find subtle to vast differences but we know enough in having a superior version such as the King James Bible.

I will say knowing Jewish people and for example how they might interpret something like Genesis as compared to non-Jews it’s interesting. As they say in calling it the written word or the living word so we should not play with it. I mean they do but it is questionable.

Some interesting data..

“5) Contemporary English Version (CEV) - This translation is another work by the American Bible Society, commonly referred to as the Bible for Today's Family. The CEV uses an even more simplified version of English than the GNT. Again, the attempt to make a translation that is simple for anyone comes at the cost of containing misleading text, such as claiming the Holy Spirit actually replaces Jesus (John 14:26) and gender-neutralizing Paul’s instructions for a pastor (1 Timothy 3:1-5). The translators of the CEV prove their exegetical incompetence with confusing and illogical translations of verses, such as their handling of Acts 9:22.”

Translation Comparison - 1 Timothy 3:1-5

“Contemporary English Version (CEV): It is true that anyone who desires to be a church official wants to be something worthwhile. That’s why officials must have a good reputation and be faithful in marriage. They must be self-controlled, sensible, well-behaved, friendly to strangers, and able to teach. They must not be heavy drinkers or troublemakers. Instead, they must be kind and gentle and not love money. Church officials must be in control of their own families, and they must see that their children are obedient and always respectful. If they don’t know how to control their own families, how can they look after God’s people?”

“English Standard Version (ESV): The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore, an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church?”

“(Dis)Honorable Mention: Two translations that most Christians know to avoid but should still be mentioned are the New World Translation (NWT), which was commissioned by the Jehovah’s Witness cult and the Reader’s Digest Bible, which cuts out about 55% of the Old Testament and another 25% of the New Testament (including Revelation 22:19, which says, “ if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book).”

“Instead of using any of these misleading translations, we would do much better to quote the Word of God faithfully, which is perfect and God-breathed, instead of rewording God’s message to include our biases and personal opinions and beliefs.”

It’s always better to refer to Scripture than to quote any pastor, preacher, biblical scholar, theological professor, etc., no matter where they are in their walk with Christ. Only the Bible is authoritative and “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness”, as made clear in 2 Timothy 3:16.”

More of my analysis

John 14:26

King James Version

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 14:26

Contemporary English Version

26 But the Holy Spirit will come and help[a] you, because the Father will send the Spirit to take my place. The Spirit will teach you everything and will remind you of what I said while I was with you.

I read about the error of these two scriptures. What is right is that the father will send the Holy Spirit. But he's not sent in the place of Jesus. Because Jesus and the father are one. Jesus did say if I don't go away I can't send the comforter to you. Jesus also said I and the father will come and dwell in you. He said he and the father are one. That was his prayer actually for his disciples or future believers. So if/when/ever they talk about transgender concerning the comparison of these two scriptures I think that is great error. In a sense it's blasphemy and it's an abomination to imply the replacement of Christ. Even in essence the replacement of his father. That is the implication of replacing Jesus just as they mention in other assessments of these two scriptures. Remember

Jesus said I will never leave you or forsake you. Amen for that.

Acts 9:22

22 Saul preached with such power that he completely confused the Jewish people in Damascus, as he tried to show them that Jesus is the Messiah.

22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and  confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

They were right this is a grossly interpretation of translation. Now I believe Saul is Paul the apostle. Hope I got that right. Well Paul increased in strength overtime in his preaching and outreach. He was blunt and bold. He had the Jewish nonbelievers expressing anger and annoyance. But in the end he was successful at proving Jesus being the Messiah.  He didn’t try but he was given a gift probably from the Holy Ghost and his boldness he convinced if not all of them at least some of them Jesus is the messiah. He was successful. There is a massive difference in these two translations.
