Lazarus is comforted & the rich man tormented

This is important for Christians today. Yes we know about head knowledge but God knows the heart. Why do some people go to hell? Why can’t God forgive them? Here is a parable. I just briefly did an overview. May you enjoy your day and glorify the Lord. Sing praise songs for the Lord and make melodies in your hearts.

Looking at Luke 16: 19 throughout 31

Who wrote the book of Luke?

The traditional view is that the Gospel of Luke and Acts were written by the physician Luke, a companion of Paul. Many scholars believe him to be a Gentile Christian, though some scholars think Luke was a Hellenic Jew. This Luke is mentioned in Paul's Epistle to Philemon.”

Who is Luke addressing his writings two at a time?

O Most Excellent Theophilus
Luke invested his time and energy writing the Gospel of Luke on a scroll approximately 25 feet long. Addressed to a man he called "O Most Excellent Theophilus," Luke seems to be writing a 25 foot long tract that would lead this ranking Roman official to faith in Christ.”

Who is the biblical Luke?

Luke the Evangelist is one of the Four Evangelists of the four traditionally ascribed authors of the canonical gospels.”

So Luke himself was not an apostle but he was a believer in Jesus Christ the Messiah. He was a Christian and the author of The Book of Luke. He was an Evangelist evangelizing the word of God.

When I look at the Book of Luke in the New Testament particularly in the King James Bible I know that there are a few Parables here. There's is a section about the unjust steward and there's a section on God knows the heart. Then we get to what I'm looking at today the rich man and the beggar. This is very important.

The gust / moral of the story here the beggar and the rich man is that the rich man died and went to hell. And in hell he lifted up his eyes being in torment and he could see Abraham a far-off and Lazarus in his bosom. He cried to the father for Mercy and he asked that Lazarus may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool his tongue for he is tormented in the flame. But he was told by Abraham son remember that thou in thy lifetime received good things and Lazarus evil things. Now Lazarus is comforted and he is tormented. The word of God says that there's a fixed gulf. I'm not going to get into the whole scripture heavily. But the rich man did say to go tell or testify to his five brothers that they not come there and be tormented also.

See Abraham tells HIM they have the prophets being Moses and the prophets and to let them hear. But the rich man says if somebody goes from the dead which would be likened to a near-death experience that they will listen and repent. And look what the rich man is told in hell. If they hear not Moses and the prophets neither will they be persuaded that one rose from the dead.

We know Jesus Christ rose from the dead. But he's talking about if he rises from the dead and goes and warns his 5 brothers that they will listen. But he is affirmed if they won't listen to Moses nor the prophets they won't be persuaded regardless.

So you might think / we're saved by faith through Grace and not by Works that no man can boast according to the Bible. Remember the biblical Lord Jesus Christ said that a rich man entering the kingdom of God is like a camel going through the eye of a needle. During his life he was accustomed to worldly ways and comfort. He didn't live a life redeemed in Christ. He lived a selfish life putting his faith probably in the traditions of men. He was well comforted in lies and serving another master. He ended up in hell. On the other hand Lazarus was tormented just like somebody who's homeless. He was hungry and he didn't get fed. He was a beggar. We have to serve the right master. We have to believe in the gospel. If you do it on to others then you’ve done it unto Christ.

Faith without works is dead. What is written in James 2 :14 to 16

14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

May the Lord be glorified.

Footnotes: See in his life being the rich man he had many times/chances to change and turn to the truth. To repent and believe in the gospel. But he was deceived and he put his trust in deception, his rich comfort (money) and the world. Not in God. Do you know James 4:4 He became accustomed to the world and despised the poor and broken. He became comfortable in his delusion. There is no other name under heaven in which a man can be saved but that is of the biblical name Jesus Christ. On the other hand demonic exists and the devil would like you to think that you have all the “Time” in the world. Written in Gods word the time had to be shorten because no flesh otherwise would have been saved.

Matthew 24:22

“22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.”
